WWE vague on Cena's appearance

In a vague statement to officials at the Monroe Civic Center, WWE does not say superstar John Cena will not be at WWE Live on Sunday - but they don't say he will be either.

Wednesday night Cena tweeted he was going to Birminham, Alabama, for shoulder surgery. That announcement effectively eliminated any chance of Cena's appearance, yet there has been no official cancellation of his scheduled United States Championship match with Alberto Del Rio.

Monroe Civic Center Marketing Manager Melissa Thaxton said WWE has not told them Cena would not be at the performance.

Thaxton read the comment from WWE, "The WWE card is always subject to change.”

"That's all we know," Thaxton said. "What we do know we will put on the civic center Facebook page and make an announcement."

The WWE Live show will continue as planned, and there is a lengthy list of what can and cannot be brought into the arena. That list is also on the civic center Facebook page.

An article on wrestlinginc.com states it is believed Cena has a torn rotator cuff and the normal recovery time for that surgery is six months.

John Cena Injury is Devastating Blow to WWE WrestleMania 32 Build

As WWE prepares for the 2016 Royal Rumble and the Road to WrestleMania 32, the company has been handed a devastating blow with the announcement that 15-time world champion John Cena would be undergoing shoulder surgery.

Cena made the announcement that he would undergo surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, on Thursday, Jan. 7 via his Twitter account:

While Cena did not reveal the extent of the damage, a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com claims he suffered a significant shoulder injury, possibly a torn rotator cuff. According to the report, the surgery and recovery time for the injury could keep him out of action through WrestleMania 32.

Losing Cena would be a huge blow to a WWE roster that has already been depleted by major injuries. With top stars like Daniel Bryan, Sting, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins , Cesaro and others all on the mend, the possibility of Cena missing the biggest show of the year would expose just how thin the crop of Superstars is right now.

WWE is looking to fill AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to its capacity of 105,000 fans—a sell-out would set an all-time WrestleMania attendance record—and losing Cena throughout the entire build to the event would undoubtedly lessen the mainstream notoriety WWE would have received if he was involved in a marquee matchup.

The surgery has been confirmed by Cena himself, but how much time he actually misses remains to be seen. This is a man who has suffered and recovered from major injuries, like a torn pectoral muscle in 2007, in freakishly short amounts of time.

Wrestling legends like The Undertaker, The Rock and Brock Lesnar will help make up for the loss of Cena if he is unable to compete at WrestleMania 32, but the loss of a bona fide top star like Cena could force WWE to build another new star while he is recovering.

Roman Reigns is a fresh face getting a massive push right now, but with Cena on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, talented performers like Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler should be in position to pick up where Cena left off.

When Cena does eventually return—whether it’s before or after WrestleMania 32—he will continue to be one of the most popular wrestlers in the world. When he does make his comeback, though, there will be legitimate questions about whether WWE continues to push him as the ultimate workhorse.

John Cena needs to turn heel and face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 32

John Cena made his return to the WWE last week after taking some time off to work on a Fox reality show. Since he’s been gone Roman Reigns has become the champ and the face of the company. With the Royal Rumble coming up in a few weeks the internet is buzzing about who is going to win and face Reigns in Dallas at Wrestlemania 32.

Brock Lesnar has become the favorite to win the Rumble and face Reigns in a rematch from last year’s ‘Mania main event. Last year Seth Rollins crashed the party and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and pinned Reigns to win the belt. A Lesnar vs Reigns rematch is intriguing but it’s hard to sell another match as the main event on the biggest show of the year.

Another option going around Twitter and the internet is John Cena. Cena is the top guy in the WWE and having him win the Rumble isn’t a stretch at all. He’s done it before and Cena vs Reigns is a big match that could headline Wrestlemania 32. The problem is having two babyfaces go at it can divide the audience and it’s something the WWE tends to stay away from. The best option is to finally turn John Cena heel.

Cena has stated in the past that he doesn’t want to turn heel until there is someone who is ready to take over and do the Make a Wish and other charitable appearances he does. It’s no secret that Cena does a lot of appearances and goes out of his way to do things for sick kids. If Reigns is the guy now the WWE needs to put out there and get him doing all the things that Cena takes so much pride in for the fans.

If they are going to turn Cen now is the right time. Fans are split 50/50 when he comes out. The kids and women love him while the men and hardcore fans despise him. With him now taking on some big movie roles in Trainwreck, Sisters and Daddy’s Home it would be easy to put him in a similar Hollywood gimmick that Hulk Hogan embraced when he turned in the late 90s.

Cena could win the Rumble by some underhanded tactics that take out Dean Ambrose. The next night on RAW he can come out and turn heel and become “Hollywood” Cena. That sets up a red hot Cena vs Reigns for the title at Wrestlemania.

When you think about it, it’s the best option that the WWE has. Unless Rock is going to face Reigns. They really need to go with Cena as a heel. But given the WWE’s history they will probably play it safe and we wind up with Reigns vs Lesnar.

Well, we all know what transpired last week on Raw & incase you don't, watch these two videos.

After the shocking announcement by the chairman, this week we have a Title match, but I am sure that it will be a DQ or Roman winning it by some means, because that's what's Best For Business & Vince is known to stir things up when it comes to ratings & Money into company's bank account.

In 2016, it is without a doubt going to be a great start to WWE because they will see Vince in action on the 1st episode of Raw & this will not only give their cable ratings a huge push, but also be helpful in making more viewers to the Network & with Vince, you can expect, a simple storyline. Well, there is No Chance In Hell.
