CM Punk UFC Opponent: Who Will The WWE Star Fight First In 2015?

CM Punk says he was fired from WWE in June. 
Former WWE superstar CM Punk shocked the sports world at UFC 181 by announcing that he has signed a multi-fight contract with the mixed martial arts promotion. Now that he’s committed to fighting, the biggest question is who his first opponent will be when he finally steps inside the octagon in 2015.
Punk, 36, has no prior MMA experience. He doesn’t know where he will be training or at what weight class he’ll be fighting, though he thinks he’ll likely be a middleweight. Punk has been training jiu-jitsu for a while, but he’s admitted that he doesn’t even have a blue belt. With so many unknowns about how he will fare in the UFC, Punk won’t likely be facing anyone of significance in his debut.
"He wanted to fight here," UFC president Dan White told ESPN.com. "He wanted to give it a shot, so we gave him an opportunity. It's not like Brock Lesnar. We're not going to throw the kitchen sink at him. Lesnar had a wrestling background. [CM Punk] is going to fight a guy who is 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 -- something like that."
Lesnar made the transition from WWE Champion to UFC Heavyweight Champion, but he had a collegiate wrestling background. At the University of Minnesota, Lesnar was a two-time Big Ten Heavyweight Champion and NCAA All-American. His first UFC fight came he was just 29 years old.
Former UFC fighter and current ESPN analyst Chael Sonnen is a friend of Punk’s, and told MMAmania.com that he has a good idea who the former WWE champ will fight. While many have speculated that the promotion will put Punk in a fight that they know he will win, Sonnen says Punk will be an underdog.
"Well he is not a bottom-tier guy, I can tell you that," Sonnen said of Punk's first opponent. "You will know who he is and he will be a pretty-heavy favorite to win. Punk is not going to come in as the favorite."
Upon Punk’s announcement, people throughout the UFC commented on the signing. Jason David, who has competed in MMA bouts and formerly portrayed the green Power Ranger on TV, made headlines by challenging Punk. Several UFC fighters also called out Punk on Twitter.



Having received his share of supporters and detractors for his decision, Punk has been careful not to be arrogant, as he begins his UFC career. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the former WWE superstar said he’s not expecting to walk right in and be a dominant fighter.  
“I'm not gonna sit here and make bold predictions about first-round head kicks and beating ranked opponents,” Punk said. “This is about me and my journey to get there. I understand other peoples' point of view about, ‘Oh, there's great fighters out there like Ben Askren.’ My only point on that is, 'Don't be mad at me, Ben. Be mad at [UFC President] Dana [White].’ I'm sure Ben Askren's a nice guy. If he's mad at me, I understand. But if the Blackhawks came to me before Dana and Lorenzo did and were like, ‘We're gonna put you in goal,’ I'd be like, ‘That's great. I played a little hockey when I was a kid.’”
It’s unknown when Punk’s first fight will be, but he’s committed to fighting sometime next year. Punk and White have estimated that he’ll need about six months of training, before facing his first opponent. 
Punk walked out on WWE, after competing in the Royal Rumble in January. He said on the Art of Wrestling Podcast that he was fired from the company in June.

CM Punk Says WWE Is More Dangerous Than UFC

CM Punk has told Rolling Stone that he considers pro wrestling more risky than mixed martial arts.
“I definitely think pro wrestling’s more risky. The pro wrestler’s mentality, and it’s ingrained in them from the start, is you have to work hurt,” Punk told the magazine’s website.
There’s some truth in this, but it is also wholly ignorant of the rigours involved in MMA. Fighting in a cage where somebody is targeting to knock you out is obviously more risky than choreographing a blow in a wrestling ring.
Even outside of the cage, MMA training camps are famed for their physical difficulty. Mike Sempervive of f4wonline has already cast doubt on Punk’s ability to make it through a camp. The intense workouts often involve injury and physical exhaustion.
“If I step in the Octagon and I get knocked out, I don’t gotta keep fighting. If that was pro wrestling, and I slipped and I fell and something happened to me and I got knocked out and I woke up three seconds later, guess what: I gotta finish this match,” Punk added.
WWE aren’t going to be happy with that comment, as it is again undermining their health policy. Again, Punk is a little wrong on this one, as plenty of fighters have been known to fight through injuries. Ignorance like this is sure to annoy the already furious MMA fanbase who see Punk as nothing more than a fake.
Punk stated he was afraid to tell AJ Lee his decision to fight, but added that she’s completely supporting his choice. He also reiterated that he’d never return to WWE, not even for a WrestleMania main event.
In another quote, Punk backed up the idea that WWE is harder by talking about pro wrestler / mixed martial artist King Mo, “He’s been training to be a pro wrestler, and he was like, “Pro wrestling is harder.”

WWE TLC 2014 : 5 Possible Returns that could happen at the Pay-Per-View

 We are just a week away from the last stop before Road to WrestleMania. The WWE Universe hasn’t still recovered from the hangover of Survivor Series as it was a ground breaking pay-per-view to say the least.
The WWE writers will have a tough time following up the Survivor Series and the ‘Road to WrestleMania’ factor adds some extra pressure on the shoulders. Vince McMahon is running low on a depleted roster at the moment and will be looking to fill the voids up before entering the most important phase of the year.
We can expect a number of returns at TLC because of this and here are some of the names whose return could make headlines for the PPV. 

#5 Bad News Barrett

The British Brawler was making his way up the WWE ladder when he dislocated his shoulder. Everyone had high hopes for his Intercontinental championship run but unfortunately all that came to an abrupt ending.
He did leave a big void in the midcard and WWE has been struggling to fill that ever since. Currently, Luke Harper and Dolph Ziggler are working out for the IC title scene and no one would frown if Barrett gets added in as a third man.
These three could work a feud all the way to WrestleMania but before that WWE should protect both Harper and Ziggler at TLC. The best way for that would be to let Barrett interfere and ruin the ladder match by taking the title away. 

#4 Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio has spent more than a decade in the WWE. After all those years, one would assume that he is a loyal servant to the company but that hasn’t been the case. The relationship between WWE and Rey hasn’t been going good lately.
Mysterio apparently wants to see out his WWE contract and move out to Mexico. However, Vince is not keen on that idea. He wants the master of 619 back before the WrestleMania period and from the looks of it, this will probably be Mysterio’s last spell in WWE.
Bringing him back in Royal Rumble is an option but that wouldn’t serve the purpose of showing Rey as an important player. TLC on the other hand would completely focus the spotlight on him and that would be a good decision. 

#3 Roman Reigns

From what we know, WWE is planning to let Roman Reigns defeat Brock Lesnar at next year’s WrestleMania. This is supposed to stamp his place as a main event star and give him a title reign at the same time.
Reigns was clearly on that path a few months ago, but unfortunately the injury worked against him. The company has been keeping him on Television with some satellite interviews over the course of his injury and Reigns did promise about returning soon.
He is advertised for the SmackDown after TLC which means that Reigns will be returning before that. With Rollins and Cena locking horns at the pay-per-view, Reigns could come back and relaunch his feud with Rollins or give a dream scenario with the Cenation leader. 

#2 Randy Orton

WWE decided to give Randy Orton some time off while they were preparing for Survivor Series. It was a hard decision to digest considering how big the pay-per-view was. However, since everything went well, there weren’t many complaints raised.
Royal Rumble will be an entirely different case. Orton should be back for a match at the Rumble and the opening is there at TLC itself.
It was Seth Rollins that took Orton out of action and Rollins will be at a dead end after his match with Cena. So what WWE could do is let Rollins spark a feud with the returning Orton and work all the way to Royal Rumble. Cena on the other hand could go on to face Lesnar for the Championship making Rumble card look credible. 

#1 Triple H

After what went down at Survivor Series, the Authority is supposed to be dead but Hunter alone isn’t the Authority. He is clearly a big draw for the WrestleMania season and the creative team should bring Hunter back at the earliest in order to build up for the matches he is going to have.
They need not bring back Hunter as an authority figure. Instead, he should be returning as an ordinary wrestler in the roster. The WWE Universe saw him as a suited guy for the whole of this year with occasional matches and Triple H shedding that image will be a great angle.
He has a score to settle with Sting first of all and if the icon is not available before WrestleMania, the company could always book youngsters like Ryback or Ziggler against the Game. For that, Triple H needs to return first and TLC is the ideal place.

WWE Raw Results And Slammy Awards Results 12/8/14

Here are your quick and dirty, editorial-free WWE Raw results for December 8, 2014. The show featured the 2014 Slammy Awards, hosted by actor Seth Green.

WWE Raw results:
1. Seth Rollins defeated Dolph Ziggler. J&J Security distracted the referee and pushed Ziggler off the top rope, leaving him open for a Curb Stomp from Rollins.
- Seth Green gave the “This is Awesome” Moment of the Year Slammy Award to Sting’s WWE debut at Survivor Series. Seth Rollins accepted it, saying Sting didn’t deserve it.
2. Kofi Kingston defeated Stardust. Kofi won with a high crossbody.
- Former Executive Vice President Of Talent Relations And General Manager Of Both Raw And Smackdown John Laurinaitis presented the Surprise Return of the Year Slammy. Ultimate Warrior won.
3. Natalya defeated Charlotte. The NXT Women’s Champion made her (unofficial?) Raw debut to help promote Thursday’s NXT Takeover: R-Evolution special. Natalya countered a figure-four into a pin to win the match.
- Santino presented the OMG! Shocking Moment of the Year Slammy to Brock Lesnar for breaking the Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania. Paul Heyman accepted on Brock’s behalf.
- Bray Wyatt cut a promo about his broken rocking chair and crushing Dean Ambrose’s trachea on Smackdown. Ambrose arrived in an ambulance full of smoke and weapons and fought off Wyatt with a table, a ladder and a chair. Ambrose claimed the only way Wyatt would leave TLC is in the back of an ambulance.
- Jerry Lawler awarded the Diva Of The Year Slammy to AJ Lee.
4. Erick Rowan defeated Intercontinental Champion Luke Harper. Rowan won by disqualification when Harper hit him with a ladder.
- Miz’s agent has an opportunity for Naomi in Hollywood. Jimmy Uso is upset about it and wants to chaperone her.
- Adam Rose and the Rosebuds presented the Slammy for LOL Moment of the Year. Damien Mizdow was the winner. Miz accepted on Mizdow’s behalf.
5. Ryback and The Usos defeated Kane, The Miz and Damien Mizdow. Mizdow got a great reaction for everything he did. Ryback pinned The Miz after Shell Shocked to win the match.
- Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat presented the Match of the Year. The winner was Team Cena vs Team Authority at Survivor Series. Dolph Ziggler accepted the award.
6. AJ Lee defeated Summer Rae. AJ won by submission with the Black Widow.
- Rob Van Dam presented the Extreme Moment of the Year Slammy. Chris Jericho diving off a steel cage onto Bray Wyatt was the winner. Fandango accepted, for some reason.
- Booker T presented Superstar Of The Year to Roman Reigns.
7. John Cena defeated Big Show. Cena won by DQ when Seth Rollins interfered. Rollins and J&J Security tried to Curb Stomp Cena off a ladder, but Dolph Ziggler made the save. Big Show knocked out Ziggler and Cena. Erick Rowan tried to help, but Luke Harper attacked him from behind. Harper and Show tossed him into the ringside steps. Ryback showed up and took out Harper and Show. He tried to Shell Shock Harper, but Kane attacked him with a steel chair. This is a long paragraph full of random names. Big Show tried to put Ziggler through a table with a chokeslam, but Ziggler countered and superkicked him out of the ring. Harper then put Ziggler through the table. Cena popped back in to take out Harper, and then Rollins Curb Stomped Cena. Rollins and J&J Security put Cena through the announce table with a powerbomb to end the show.

Tonight’s WWE Raw Preview: The Slammy Awards Return, WWE TLC Go-Home Show, Seth Green, Coverage Details & More


Tonight’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw is live from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET. Tonight’s broadcast will feature the return of the annual Slammy Awards, hosted by actor, writer and comedian Seth Green. 
Fans have been voting on various awards all week long, and the winners will be announced throughout the night, including the following categories: 
  • Match of the Year
  • WWE Superstar of the Year
  • WWE Diva of the Year
  • LOL Moment of the Year
  • Extreme Moment of the Year
  • “This is Awesome” Moment of the Year
  • Breakout Star of the Year
  • Faction of the Year
  • Many more…
There will also be online exclusive awards, which will be unveiled on the WWE Network pre-show beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. 
The normal crop of Superstars are advertised for tonight’s show. World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar was previous advertised, but removed from the Slammy Awards special several weeks ago. 
Tonight’s WWE Raw will also be the last show prior to Sunday’s WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view. No matches have been announced yet, but WWE.com is pushing that Seth Rollins will look to gain momentum going into his Tables Match with John Cena. They are also teasing an update on Dean Ambrose, after he was stretched out of Smackdown last week at the hands of Bray Wyatt. 
Finally, after two weeks of guest general managers – including Daniel Bryan, Santino Marella and the Anonymous GM – will Vince McMahon be on hand once again to give us an update on WWE’s current managerial issues?

The Rock on Jimmy Fallon, Notes on CM Punk Signing with UFC, Former WWE Star In Mad Max

 - Following the announcement of his UFC deal, CM Punk was the #6th most-searched term in the United States on Saturday night with over 100,000 searches. UFC was the #3 most-searched term in the US, also with more than 100,000 searches, following the Punk announcement and their UFC 181 pay-per-view.

 Punk signing with UFC has received a ton of mainstream media coverage including USA Today, Yahoo, CBS Sports, the top story on ESPN and many others.
– Former WWE Superstar Nathan Jones has a role in the new “Max Mad: Fury Road” which is currently being filmed in Australia. It stars Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy.
– The Rock will be on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this Thursday to promote his Wake Up Call reality show on TNT.
