Heath Slater Issued Arrest Warrant for Allegedly Assaulting a Woman in 2011

Police in Atlanta have issued an arrest warrant for WWE starHeath Slater for an assault that allegedly took place in 2011 following WrestleMania 27.

Heath Slater Faces Misdemeanor Arrest Warrant

"WWE has been advised that a misdemeanor arrest warrant has been issued against Heath Miller (aka Heath Slater), but we have not seen a copy or been provided with the underlying charges," a WWE statement read, per Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc. "Once this information is received by WWE, we will take the appropriate action."

According to an original account of the incident, security guard Corinne Oliver accused Slater of assaulting her after he attempted to take her back to his room at an Atlanta hotel. When Oliver refused, Slater allegedly accosted her and began choking her.

"I just started fighting with him, trying to get his arm from around my throat,” Oliver said, per a 2011 report from WSB-TV in Atlanta.

A ProWrestling.net account of the incident says Oliver suffered damage to five vertebrae in her back. Oliver alleges other wrestlers saw the attack but did not intervene. She immediately reported the incident to her supervisors but did not file a police report until August, three months following the attack. 

The case has been pending in the Atlanta court system since. An initial warrant for Slater's arrest was filed in 2013 but denied. It's unclear why prosecutors are comfortable going forward with the case now.

Slater was a member of the original NXT cast. He has been with WWE ever since, largely bouncing around on low cards or as part of the tag team circuit. He is a three-time WWE Tag Team champion with Justin Gabriel and has most recently been part of the Slater Gator pairing with Titus O’Neil.

WWE did not indicate whether Slater would continue to appear on its programming while the case is pending.
